About
Uyghurify is an independent project that records Uyghur stories using modern storytelling techniques.
A people's memory lives not in archives, but in the telling. We gather the small stories standing at the edge of grand history: a teapot, a wedding tape, a doppa that fit into a suitcase. Because the smallest-looking things carry the greatest stories.
What we do
Three formats, one purpose
Reels
Moments that fit into a minute: a craft, a recipe, the story of a single word. Short-form, in the language of social media.
Mini documentaries
15–30 minute films tracing a person, a place or an object. Cinematic, patient, in depth.
Essays
Long-form narratives, portraits and testimonies. Carefully edited texts for those who love to read.
Our principles
How we work
Safety first
The safety of our storytellers and their families comes before everything. Names, faces and places are shared only with explicit consent.
The story belongs to its teller
Every storyteller has the final word on their own story; they approve before publication and can withdraw at any time.
Careful production
Not speed, but doing justice. Every piece goes through research, translation and editing before it is published.
Process
How a story is born
Listening
A story reaches us — through a form, a message, a friend. First we only listen; the recorder comes later.
Weaving
Together with the storyteller we choose the format: video or text? Every edit passes through their approval.
Sharing
The story is published in three languages and added to the archive. That thread is now part of the greater weave.

2024
Proje fikri doğdu
Her şey bir aile albümünün dijitalleştirilmesiyle başladı; kaybolmasın istediğimiz ilk şey bir fotoğraftı.
2025
İlk reels yayında
Bir dakikalık ilk hikâye, ilk haftasında on binlerce kişiye ulaştı.
2025
Sözlü tarih arşivi açıldı
Dört şehirde kayıt almaya başladık; arşiv bugün 100 kaydı aştı.

İlk mini belgesel: İpliğin İzi
Bir yıllık emeğin ürünü, uluslararası festival seçkisine alındı.

Hikâyeler artık Türkçe, İngilizce ve Uygurca tek çatı altında.
